Our Story
The Elewis Story
Dr. Lewis established Elewis, LLC in 2006 to publish and present information that educates individuals, groups, and organizations. The company was formally incorporated in 2019, building upon an already established foundation.
Elewis, LLC helps individuals and organizations turn knowledge into action. Its work includes educational consulting, professional career and life coaching, leadership development, professional and faith-based continuing education, digital learning, and creating educational resources that support personal and organizational growth.
Elewis Institute for Leadership and Learning was later established as a nonprofit expansion of this longstanding work. The Institute broadens access to education, leadership development, workforce readiness, artificial-intelligence literacy, digital skills, career coaching, and community-based learning opportunities. Although the Institute is newly incorporated, the expertise, educational foundation, programs, and leadership behind it are not new.
Elewis Institute for Leadership & Learning is a newer nonprofit organization, its leadership reflects an extensive history of nonprofit administration, community service, adult education, workforce development, and grant-supported programming. Executive Director Dr. Emily Lewis previously served for more than a decade as Executive Director of Lewis Ministries a faith based 501(c)(3) organization that provided educational, food-assistance, and community-based programs to low-income women and children. Her professional experience also includes management and partnership involvement in externally funded educational initiatives, including over $320,000 online and blended-learning initiative involving various higher education institutions funding supporting an Open Educational Resources initiative, manufacturing initiatives, and women skill development and mentoring programs.
Dr. Emily Lewis
Dr. Emily Lewis understands that career success does not always follow a straight path. Her journey did not begin with a traditional route from high school directly into college. Like many working adults, she had responsibilities, bills, and life demands that required her to enter the workforce first. But even then, she knew she was called to do more than simply “get a job.” She believed there was greater purpose ahead.
That belief became the foundation for her career and life plan. With determination, discipline, and faith in the possibilities ahead, Dr. Lewis began building the future she envisioned. She started her educational journey at a local community college, continued through an accelerated four-year degree program, and went on to earn both bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Her commitment to growth ultimately positioned her to earn a Doctor of Education.
Throughout her journey, Dr. Lewis learned the power of intentional planning. Each year, she reflected on her progress, adjusted her goals, identified the education and professional development she needed, and used her plan as a guide for moving forward. What began as a desire to improve her own life became a calling to help others do the same.
Dr. Lewis went from working in a department store stockroom to serving in executive leadership roles, including Vice President positions where she helped support, develop, and advance the dreams of others. Her experience taught her that career growth is not only about getting hired; it is about understanding your value, preparing with purpose, and designing a path that aligns with your goals.
Dr. Lewis has served in executive and academic leadership positions, including Vice President roles, and has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in adult education, higher education administration, leadership, organizational development, career development, curriculum design, and online learning. She has designed and delivered more than 500 training sessions for students, community and faith-based organizations, faculty, and workforce-development participants. She has also led professional-development initiatives serving more than 300 faculty members.
Her experience and expertise include developing curricula, online courses, leadership programs, employee onboarding systems, career-development guides, accessible digital content, and training delivered through face-to-face, virtual, blended, and online formats. She has also managed and supported grant-funded education, technology, workforce-development, mentoring, and open-education initiatives.
Education for a Changing World
Today, Dr. Lewis’s work helps college students, recent graduates, career changers, and returning professionals in navigating the AI-driven environment. Her primary focus is helping people understand how artificial intelligence, Applicant Tracking Systems, digital platforms, and changing workplace expectations affect how individuals learn, work, apply for opportunities, lead organizations, and build sustainable careers.
Across Elewis, LLC and Elewis Institute for Leadership and Learning, her work remains grounded in one central belief: education should empower people to move beyond where they started, recognize what is possible, and take meaningful steps toward the future they envision.
